About Mantralayam Temple (Raghavendra Swamy Mutt)
Sri Raghavendra Swamy (1595–1671), a dedicated disciple of Madhvacharya’s Dvaita philosophy, was an eminent scholar and philosopher. He made a definitive choice to renounce his material existence and embrace the life of a sanyasi, fully committing himself to the promotion of dharma and the dissemination of Vedic knowledge. His teachings unequivocally emphasised righteousness, service to humanity, and deep devotion (bhakti).
He predicted that he would continue to bless and lead his followers for 700 years from within the Brindavana before entering Jeeva Samadhi (a state of eternal meditation) in 1671. A potent hub of faith and divine energy, the location where he entered samadhi became the spiritual core of Mantralayam Mutt. Traditional South Indian architecture was used in the construction of the temple complex. The Brindavana, a revered stone building over Sri Raghavendra Swamy’s samadhi and embellished with flowers, tulasi garlands, and lamps, is the center of the Mutt. It exudes calm and spiritual vitality.
