The Draksharamam Temple was built during the 9th century by the Eastern Chalukyas. The legend links it to Daksha Yagna, where Sati Devi sacrificed herself at this place. This place where her left cheek fell became Draksharamam. It is also the most famous Shakti Peetha where Goddess Manikyamba Devi is worshipped alongside Lord Shiva.
