The Ashtalakshmi Temple is a very famous and most revered Hindu temple that is situated in Besant Nagar chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The Ashtalakshmi temple is also called as Arulmigu Mahalakshmi Temple. Temple is dedicated to the goddess Mahalakshmi. Here the meaning of Astalakshmi means eight divine forms of Goddess Mahalakshmi and the 8 forms are Adi Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Dhairya Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santana Lakshmi, Vijaya Lakshmi, Vidya Lakshmi, and Dhana Lakshmi. The people visit to this temple to seek blessing from the Mahalakshmi Devi and wish about the wealth and prosperity in their life to the deity.
The temple is built by following the Dravidian Architecture style at the Temple very beautiful and style architecture and santcums are present in this temple. It is a very famous pilgrimage site to the devotees of Mahalakshmi Devi in Chennai and in the temple conducts daily poojas homams rituals. The temple was constructed in the 1970s by the guidance of Sri Mukkur Srinivasa Varadachariar Swamigal.
